How the llms.txt generator works.

The name becomes the H1, the one part the format requires. The one-line summary becomes the blockquote under it.

Details are free text. Each section becomes an H2 with a list of links: a title, an address and an optional note.

Save it as llms.txt and serve it as plain text at the root of your site, at /llms.txt.

The checker reads a file line by line and reports what breaks the format, such as a missing H1 or a list item that isn't a link, with the line number.

What each verdict means.
- Valid
The pasted file follows the format: an H1 on the first line, and every H2 section a list of links.
- Error
Something breaks the format: no H1 on the first line, a second H1, a heading that isn't an H2, or a list item under an H2 that isn't a link.
- Note
Allowed by the format, and worth a look: no summary, no sections, a relative address, or notes that don't follow a colon.

What is llms.txt?
A Markdown file at /llms.txt that sums up a site for AI agents: its name, a short summary and links to its most useful pages. What is llms.txt?
Does llms.txt get you cited by ChatGPT or other AI?
No effect has been shown. SE Ranking's study of 300,000 domains found no link between the file and AI citations, and Google says you need no new files or markup to appear in AI Overviews. GEOFast's X-ray reports the file as a note and leaves it out of the score. What is llms.txt?

What does the llms.txt validator check?
That the file starts with one H1, whether a blockquote summary follows it, that no heading other than an H2 appears after it, and that every H2 section is a list of markdown links with addresses. It checks the format, not whether the links work.
